Iwan Le Moine, MD & Senior Market Analyst
Iwan (pronounced “E-one”) joined Hawkins Wright in 1992, before helping found EMGE with Martin Glass in 1993.
Since that time, he has been instrumental in developing the research and databases of the Graphic Paper sector, alongside presenting at industry conferences around the world.
Iwan was born in Kemper (Brittany), educated at Victoria College, Jersey (C.I.) and graduated from the University of Southampton (Hampshire, England) with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and a Masters (M.Sc.) in Operational Research.
Iwan lives in Truro, Cornwall (UK) with his wife and four children and remains keenly interested in sport, especially rugby, basketball and waterpolo.
Gary Thomson, Senior Market Consultant
Gary has been analysing and writing about Recovered Fibre, Paper, Packaging and Printing for more than 30 years.
Following stints at several European and Global paper industry journals where he rose to Editor-in-Chief, Gary was headhunted by EMGE in 2004 to co-lead our industry analysis, as well as being our chief report writer and presenting at industry conferences worldwide. His main passion at work is arguing about paper prices.
In his private life, Gary is married to Emma, is a singer, a linguist and has a heart for helping homeless people, with the Salvation Army.
Darren Clargo, Data / Market Analyst
After graduating from University with a Statistics Major, Darren joined EMGE in 2007 as a Data/Market Analyst. He is largely responsible for managing EMGE’s extensive database and compiling data for the company reports, projects and presentations. Darren took a lead in developing EMGE’s Packaging and Tissue market intelligence and also has an active role in client relations, marketing, sales and other core activities of the business.
Prior to EMGE, Darren took a gap year working as a voluntary English Language Teaching Assistant in Hong Kong. He is married with three children and in his spare time, likes to read (on paper!), walk and play/watch various sports.
George Howell, Market Research Interviewer
George graduated from the University of Bristol in 2006 with a BA (hons) in German and Spanish. He is half Greek and also speaks Greek fluently.
Since graduation George has always taught languages as a private tutor as well as having worked in the SEO industry and running residential language courses in Greece.
George joined EMGE in 2015 to help maintain and establish longstanding relationships between EMGE and many colleagues across the paper industry with whom he has frequent dialogues in English, German and Spanish, during which a wide range of market information is discussed and shared. This information helps feed into the EMGE reports.
In his free time George enjoys cycling, swimming and gardening.
Yulia Phelan, Accounts / Bookkeeper
Yulia graduated from The Moscow State University, studying Philology and specialising in English Language and Literature, as well as Danish and Swedish. After University, Yulia worked mainly in the hospitality business, before arriving in the the UK, where she retrained to become an Accountant. Yulia has been with EMGE since 2016 and looks after the company finances. She also utilises her knowledge of foreign languages in EMGE’s market research activities.
In her spare time, Yulia enjoys growing flowers, vegetables, raspberries and making her own jams and pickles. She also likes walking on Cornish beaches and swimming in the Atlantic.
